  • Beck Anxiety: Score

    Measures the severity of anxiety symptoms and their physiological manifestations through a 21-item self-report questionnaire.

  • General Anxiety Disorder (GAD-7): GAD-7 Score

    The GAD-7 is a 7-item questionnaire used to assess the severity of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) in adults. The score is based on the responses to seven questions about the frequency of common anxiety symptoms over the past two weeks.

Why I created this challenge: In a world where anxiety levels are skyrocketing, breathwork has emerged both in scholarly research and social media as a potent tool for mental health. Studies suggest that structured breathwork can significantly decrease symptoms of anxiety. Social media anecdotes and popular press often highlight transformative personal experiences with breathwork, though rigorous, structured examination is scant. This challenge is pivotal to scientifically validate these claims, integrating clinical rigor with the communal engagement of a social challenge.

My Objective for You: Through the 30-Day Anxiety-Reduction Breathwork Challenge, your objective is to engage daily with the Othership Breathwork App, aiming to reduce your anxiety scores on the Beck Anxiety and GAD-7 scales by day 30.

Aims & Objectives: The primary aim is to scientifically evaluate the effect of daily guided breathwork sessions on anxiety levels, using validated measures like Beck Anxiety and GAD-7 scores. Secondly, we aim to assess the usability and impact of the Othership Breathwork App in everyday settings by participants.

Significance & Impact: This challenge holds significant potential to provide empirical evidence for breathwork as a therapeutic tool, directly impacting mental health practices.
