HIIT Workout and Sense of Agency Study
Protocol Authors
Participants will engage in a 30-minute high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout. They will complete the Sense of Agency Scale at three time points: before the workout, immediately after the workout, and 24 hours post-workout. This will help measure any changes in their sense of control over their actions.

A Note from the Protocol Team

**Why I created this protocol:**
As a long-time advocate and practitioner of high-intensity interval training (HIIT), I have experienced firsthand its transformative power on both physical fitness and mental well-being. Scholarly research has shown that HIIT can significantly improve physical health markers, but its impact on psychological constructs like the sense of agency remains underexplored. On social media, many fitness enthusiasts claim that HIIT gives them a heightened sense of control and empowerment. This study aims to validate these claims by measuring changes in participants' sense of agency before, immediately after, and 24 hours post-workout using the Sense of Agency Scale. Running this study is crucial to understanding how HIIT can holistically improve our lives, enhancing not just our bodies but our minds as well.
**My Objective for You:**
My objective for you is to explore how a 30-minute HIIT workout can influence your sense of control over your actions, using the Sense of Agency Scale. By participating, you'll contribute to groundbreaking research and potentially discover a new, empowering aspect of your fitness routine.
**Aims & Objectives:**
This study aims to investigate changes in the sense of agency among participants engaging in a 30-minute HIIT workout. The objective is to measure these changes using the Sense of Agency Scale at three distinct time points: before, immediately after, and 24 hours post-workout.
**Significance & Impact:**
This challenge is significant because it bridges the gap between physical fitness and psychological well-being, offering a holistic view of how HIIT impacts our lives. Expected outcomes include enhanced understanding of how HIIT influences the sense of control, which could inform fitness programs and mental health interventions. Limitations include the self-reported nature of the Sense of Agency Scale and the short duration of the study.
